I found myself yearning for a burger and beer, but it was already 10 PM, and when living in Delaware whereas many things close at around 7-9PM I thought I was going to have to settle for a bottled beer and a McDonald’s burger. Then I remembered that 8th and Union Kitchen has a late night happy hour and they stay open until 1 AM. So I got myself together and headed over to 8th and Union Kitchen for my burger and beer. When I arrived I had to look inside as it almost looked like it was closed. We are in the fall season so of course, no one was sitting outside as it was even too cold for many smokers. They have a shared parking lot but that can fill up quickly on popular nights and the on the street parking is very limited but available. When I arrived it was a small intimate crowd I was able to grab a seat at the bar and place my order within moments of sitting down.
They had a special menu as it was Monday Night Football, late night (yes 10 PM is considered late night here in Delaware) menu. I ordered a lager and a smoke cheddar burger with a green tea shooter. My bartender was mad cool and even turned me on to a Bulleit Burboun Martini. One thing I will add what I love about 8th and Union Kitchen is that they are more than happy to play any music of your choice. When I came in they were playing some 80’s rock but switched it to 90’s R&B at the request of some patrons.
I also didn’t know that they were rated one of the best brunch restaurants in America by the Food Network. Damn all this right in my own backyard and I didn’t even know it. Overall I would suggest going here whether for happy hour, date night or just hanging with the gang. One thing I do want to note is at times it can get quite loud in there but that’s to be expected with any pub.
I definitely recommend checking 8th and Union Kitchen out
